And BTW. For those of you who are looking at this forum on a desktop. Have you all noticed the new Hayward field banner for Track Ducks at the top? (Just askin' for a friend)

Correct me if I am wrong, but, did not Bill Bowerman typically perch himself at the North end of the old East Grandstands while he was conducting workouts with his athletes? If so, how appropriate is it that he has been returned to that spot at the new Field.

Thanks for the news video Chileduck. Carmela Baez and Reed Brown had brief cameo appearance in the background taking photos of the stadium on the side of the street. That facility is going to be amazing. Next year's NCAA Outdoor meet is going to be one for the books.

I walked along Agate to view the facility today. It is amazing, although I couldn't see much inside. However, I was surprised at how many Hoffman workers are still on the job. Most of the equipment is gone, but the fencing along Agate is still up. I must have seen 20-30 workers or more. One crew of about 10 was doing something near the NE corner. I can hardly wait for the tours to begin.

Danish
If indeed there are tours, please post information on this site. I will drive down to Eugene for the day just to get a look at the future of Oregon track and field. Thank you.

Will do OD. I don't even know if there will be tours-just wishful thinking on my part.

Probably a pipe dream, but wouldn't it be great if they ran the all-comer's meets at Hayward this summer? One can now walk around about 270 degrees of the stadium. They're building a fabulous long throws practice area where the hammer used to be held; wouldn't be unreasonable to assume that we're going to in the hunt for some great young throwers once they see a dedicated practice area that doesn't interfere with workouts on the track.

OK, I broke my isolation vows and drove to Eugene today. Guess why. I too was surprised by the number of workers still on site. IMHO, I doubt the venue would have been 100% finished by Pac-12. Also very surprised that the complex was as small as it is. In my mind I saw it like a small Bird's Nest, Mexico's Estadio Olimpico or the Olympic Stadium in Rome, all of which I have been in. Small minds (mine) see things larger than what they are. Now that I have viewed the stands and track, I still would love to see the areas not usually open to the public. Some day it will happen, I hope.

OD66, It's kinda like building a house. The final 1% takes forever. Of course, we have to remind ourselves that the Hoffman crew did cut back their hours and crew sizes a couple months ago, when it was determined there would be no track meets this Spring. I have no doubt that if there were to be meets this Spring, the overall Project Manager, Howard Slusher, would have made sure everything was done by May 1st, if only to retain his rumored reputation of always being finished ahead of schedule and under budget.
