The linked story in the Rogue Valley Times (based in Medford) may be behind a pay wall, not sure. In it the Crater High boys placed first in the DMR at the Nike Indoor Nationals in New York. Not a Duck story, but a fun read for one of Oregon's premier high school distance programs. www.rv-times.com/sports/highschool/crater-claims-third-national-title-in-dmr/article_4811966c-df42-11ee-b652-17f13d23fb7b.htmlI've been encouraging this newspaper to give Jaida Ross some local recognition for her accomplishments as she is a North Medford grad. They don't have a very large staff and are a start-up after the Mail-Tribune and Ashland Daily Tidings folded. They are doing fairly well overall, but time will tell if the valley will once again support a print/online publication. I worked 12 years as a newspaper reporter and editor before the advent of the Internet and have strong opinions about the role of a responsible, independent news organization in any community.

Lots of great athletes have been coming out of the Medford/Ashland area for years. Do you know the story of the basketball player (Brett Hollins), who is on the SOSU team? There is quite a story about this 29 year old who seems to have turned his life around.

Only what I read online. Definitely an interesting story.
