She was listed as a jr. Might she also have a covid year? I would guess so, too!

I’ve done some research on Alexa. I am impressed with her resume. She was a Junior Olympic National Champion in the 100 and the 4x100. Alexa is very versatile. She is competitive from the indoor 60 to the outdoor 200. As previously mentioned she has run well on both the 4X4 and the 4x1 relays.
it’s always a “ feather in the cap” for the program to have an alumnae from an elite academic institution on the program.
As a note of interest, Alexa’s father ran track and played football for Notre Dame. He played 12 years in the NFL and was an All Pro kickoff returner.

Looks like she has two seasons each of XC and Indoors, but just one season of outdoor eligibility left. Possible Pac-12 scorer with a little improvement in the Steeple, especially with the graduations and at least one key transfer (Tavella, UCLA).

I anticipate there will be a few more high profile incoming transfers being announced in the near future.

This is almost a month old but Caleb Hagan is transferring from Tennessee to Oregon. He won the OR State Championship at 100m in 2019 as a junior in 10.66. He started at Idaho and then transferred to Tennessee but has not raced much I’m guessing due to injuries. Welcome home to the former Sherwood product.

He had decent times for a High School Junior prior to COVID. Hopefully Coach Taylor can tap into whatever potential is there.

In his only open 400m as a junior, he ran 50+ seconds. He also has a relay split of 48.4h. The Ducks might actually be able to enter a 4x4 team at the conference meet! The pool (depending on redshirts, transfers, and injuries) looks like Pueschner, Wheeler (if he doesn’t transfer and can split under 48-seconds), Dan Watcke, and Fuad Omer, with possibly Erickson, Trucks, and Hagan – as well as other sprinters and 800m runners – as fill-ins.

I anticipate there will be a few more high profile incoming transfers being announced in the near future. As mentioned huge pickup by the ducks. Probably the main reason there was so many fast times from the West Region in the 1500 this past Spring the ducks now have 4:08 or faster 1500M runners. Mia Barnett is now a Duck. She may or may not be eligible this year to compete due to her transferring for the second time and her Coach that was released was not a head Coach.

Agreed - Thank you, Santa Duck! Like Christmas in July...I mean August!
I know that the NCAA has cracked down this year on transfers due to the impact of the portal; however, given the circumstances of the distance coach - and thus her coach - leaving, she probably has a strong argument for extenuating circumstances and be allowed to compete right away.
I cannot think of a better replacement for Thorton-Bott in terms of racing for both Kazimierska and Elmore. With Barnett being a front-runner and Kazimierska being a kicker, Kaz is going to benefit from her great pacing. Hopefully Barnett will also have the same team-spirit mentality and friendship that Izzy fostered.

Hopefully Barnett will also have the same team-spirit mentality and friendship that Izzy fostered. If she does get an exception and I hope that will be the case then the Women's team will have a great shot at a podium finish this fall in XC which ironically will be held at the school Mia spent the last two years running XC for so she will be very familiar with that course. I am not sure but I don't think Zarbo is returning (I could be wrong). Even without the two mentioned the women have a solid squad and I believe that with a year under the new coaches and with the progress they all made on the track they will be much better XC runners than they were last year. The problem is that all these transfers this summer have made schools like Colorado, Florida, NAU, and Notre Dame insanely stacked along with NC State still keeping a significant portion of their championship winning squad. Its going to be super tough to get on the podium this year.

Dalia Frias is joining her UCLA teammate Mia Barnett in Eugene. Sam McDonnell is the lone one left from the UCLA trio yet to announce her new school. I wouldn't be surprise if she lands in Eugene. Talk about coming in the 9th inning with the Transfers for the Women's team. I was a bit concerned with all the movement this summer and nobody going to Eugene. Frias may be in a different situation than Barnett as she did not compete for UCLA in the Spring so she may be immediately eligible. Even I wouldn't be surprised if she sat out XC and Indoors to save her eligibility while she transitions yet again not unless she comes in this fall on a very high level. It will be very tough I imagine to crack the top 7 if everyone is healthy and eligible. I do believe someone like Melissa Berry will be a player this year after her breakout year.
