Chile, have you checked Jordan Washington's social media? She is also from Serra, and has the fastest 200m time in CA last year. I can't find where she has committed online. Edit: according to Milesplit, she is uncommitted.

Future Ducks Connor Burns (4:03.08) and Simeon Birnbaum (4:05.29) finished 2nd and 3rd at the New Balance Indoor Grand Prix Junior Boys Mile today, finishing behind Wake Forest commit Rocky Hansen (4:01.11). Their en route 1500m times were 3:45.51 and 3:47.49. They both beat other top recruits Aaron Sahlman (Northern Arizona) and Devan Kipyego (Iowa State).

I completely forgot about Ducks distance runner commit Allura Markow who won the girls 1600m at the Sound Running TEN meet last night in California in 4:48.95 which converts to a 4:29.13 1500m time and a nice start to her season. I didn’t watch the race but 2nd place ran 4:54.69 so she absolutely crushed the competition. Looking back at her other results I saw that she won the 800m in 2:11.76 and the 1600m in 4:49.16 during the UW High School Invitational on February 11th. So Markow might be more of a track runner than XC and looks ready to improve on her times from her junior year.

Markow has looked very impressive in her last few outings. I did see the videos of her running at the UW High School Invite as well as last nights Sound Running Meet and she looks to be a strong competitor. Last night she did lead the race wire to wire and I am sure 4:45ish would have been possible had there been someone to push her through the middle two laps and more laps considering her middle two laps were the slowest splits for her. I also impressed by her double at UW especially how she kicked to finished nicely in to win the 800 after doubling back from the mile win earlier. She looks to be a talented runner who very well could contribute to XC in 3/4 years time. Katie Clute has also run some good races this indoor season setting PRs in the 800- 2:15; 1600- 4:48, and 3200-10:15. She is also ahead of her indoor track times from her Junior so she could also lower her outdoor best. I can see both of them getting very close to 4:40 or faster this outdoor season if they stay healthy.
The women have some pretty talented freshman coming in the fall and I imagine there will probably be a few more seasoned college transfers or an international recruit potentially added to the team to give them the firepower to be podium contenders in XC this fall. The freshman lady recruits may very well not be toeing the line attached this fall which would be a good thing for them in the long run. There are enough returners on the Women's team if all healthy (ITB, Klaudia, Elmore, Berry, Mclean, Girard, potentially Zarbo) in addition to whatever transfers they may land over the summer that should field a very competitive XC squad without the baby ducklings.

Coach Taylor landed a pretty huge talent in Jamaica High Schooler Alana Reid. She has Legal PRs of: 100/11.22 and 200/22.95 both set during her 2022 Outdoor Campaign. Glad to see some decent pickups are trickling in on the Woman's short sprint area.

Turned 18 in January so is the age of an American HS senior. With her and Brazil this provides a little depth going forward. On my wish list now is another hurdler, and some 400/800 types. The jumps need replenishing also but I'm too old to think I'm gonna get everything on my list.

A few more results this past weekend from incoming recruits:
Alana Reid - ran an impressive double this past weekend of 11.24/100m and 22.96/200m both into a negative win almost matching her PRs set last summer. She is clearly ahead of where she was last season at this time and should break her PRs if she is able to stay healthy this season. I have watched several videos of her and there are many technical things that Coach Taylor can correct. She has a lot of room for improvement which is great.
Dan Watcke - Placed 3rd in the 800 at New Balance Indoor Nationals running a PR of 1:49.59. He also seems to be ahead of where he was going into Outdoors last year. Maybe a 1:48/1:47 will be possible later on in the season.
Rodrick Pleasant - Placed 4th in the 60M/6.82 and won the 200/21.41 at Nike Indoor Nationals
Allura Markow - Placed 19th in the mile at New Balance Indoor Nationals running 4:51
William Heslam - Placed 2nd in the Mile 4:13 at Nike Indoor Nationals
