Some week, eh! Lots of unknows and surprises. Happens most every year. #1 Hannah Cunliffe - As interested Duck fans, we will have to wait to see if there is more to the story. #2 Missing athletes - if they do show, will they help? Simpson, Maton, Feldmeier, Rainsberger, Stauber. #3 The World Champs in Eugene. I sure hope there is not a major problem. #4 There is way too much sun in Arizona. Send rain. Been 80 plus or minus way too long. #5 Hope the financial correction this week is over. Hope to see some of you in Texas. I hear Lone Star and Chili are the main meal.

Lone Star is simply awful, but have a bottle so you can agree (or not). There are several places on the main drag that serve the decent craft beer that we Oregonians crave. Chili is such a personal thing that you'll find both good and bad in TX. The best move is to find a way to squeeze in a trip to Snow's in Lexington (about an hour drive). Problem is that they're so good they only open on Saturday from 8-sold out; not sure when the meet starts on Saturday, but it's probably too early. There's always the Golden Corral. Stopped in there a few years ago since it was the only place open late on Friday. So sad that some team's budgets only allowed them to eat there. Last year we all went over to Blackwater Draw (am I right, Bill?) and the food and service were great on Friday night. On Saturday, we hit Razzoo's for some Cajun, but it was packed and then some. OK, I'll just sit on being the beer and food critic and let others comment on the other points.

Back to Olduck's list of missing athletes: Simpson had a knee problem, so he may have had surgery and is in rehab mode. Rainsberger and the 800m pair either will be at the Husky meet or will be redshirting. Maton was in NYC, so he must be close to competing. He has had academic issues in the past, but I can't imagine they would "reward" academic issues with a trip to NYC.
