Assuming the Ducks have no new qualifiers after next weekend and none get bumped either, I am in the camp of having Barnett (1200) and Frias (1600) run the DMR and keep Kasmierska, Ayyildiz, and Elmore fresh for their individual events. It gives more Ducks the opportunity to score and allows the team to utilize their great depth to maximize the amount of points they can earn. Let's learn from last year when Klaudia and Izzy ran with heavy legs in the DMR and did not score. I agree with keeping Kasmierska and Ayyildiz fresh but IMHO, I don't think there is any way possible Elmore will not be running that DMR anchor leg (on fresh legs). She will have ~ 24hr to rest up and get ready for the 3000m.

I am not so concerned about the heavy legs this year. The Championships are at sea level and the Oregon women have been raced sparingly so far. On top of that, I believe that all Ayyildiz, Elmore, Barnett, and Kasmierska are fit enough to provide quality doubles. Matching two of them with what should be competitive 400 and 800 meter legs and I don't believe that Oregon will have to take a back seat to anyone. I do believe the Ducks can run a 10:44. This may not win the relay, but it should will rack up enough points to possible get them on the Championship podium. It has been a few years since I have been as positive and enthused about the possibilities for the women's team.

My final thoughts on this. As stated in other threads the seed times for nationals are now thrown out the window and with the DMR it's even more a non factor because many of the individuals the top teams used to run those fast times now have 800, mile, or 5ks they may be running on day 1 ahead of the DMR. I believe the only top teams that won't have any substitutions are Notre Dame. BYU is probably gonna have to sub out their 800 leg. I would be surprised if Carley Thomas ran the DMR for Washington. Providence would have to double back both of their milers. OK State can't run Roe (5k) and would have to double back Galvydte right after the 800 semis. The ducks now have the options of using Barnett and Frias. I am not sure of Nelson's status which hopefully she is fine but if Oregon can run Barnett on the 1200 with Nelson and Elmore on the 800/1600 this team could run as stated 10:44 or faster. If Nelson is not available the next lineup could be Frias 1200 with Barnett on the 800 which still would be a very solid relay. I really hope the milers are preserved if and when they make the finals because the alternate versions of the relay can still be HIGHLY successful without Klaudia or Ayyildiz. Each week both Barnett and Frias got better so they are viable options that wouldn't drastically change the firepower of the relay.

Looks like there is a likelihood that Frias, Nelson and Barnett makeup the 1200/800/1600 legs on the DMR which in the grand scheme of things makes good sense by giving the milers and Maddy the chance to focus solely on maximizing their individual events while allowing Frias and Barnett to potentially make a big impact on the relay. If this ends up being the team they still have a good shot of doing pretty well.

Nelson was in the YouTube video, so that is a good sign.
