Solid performances across the board. Was super impressed with Katie Clute's 3k run. She looked very good and could very well drop several seconds off of that time in future outings this indoor season. It will probably take sub 9:00 to qualify for Nationals which may be a stretch but anything is possible. She is a hidden gem that seemingly has a lot of upside and has many of the tools that could make a her a serious threat in future years both on the track and in the grass. I was also impressed by Dalia Frias finishing her race after getting tripped from behind and falling. Had she not gone down I could see her having run close to 4:40 or right under it which is a great sign for her.

All of those personal bests this early in the season is a good sign of great coaching up to this point. It's encouraging to see the future progression of each of these athletes.

While yes the high numbers of personal bests this early in the season is a good sign, one has to temper this result with the fact that many of these in the list I published are for athletes who hadn't recorded ANY time in their event yet in the recording systems so ANY time would have been a new PB. If you look now, I've added a tab to the table published above labeled Previous Marks which show just those new PBs when the athlete had recorded a previous time in the event, so this list is smaller. Just a FYI.

Here is my favorite finish of the meet. Look how Balazs looks off the challenger and zooms toward the finish.

Well the Huskies indoor preview has come and gone and one's hopes for the lady Ducis has to be soaring. As of today, the ladies are ranked 4th indoors nationally. Are there any additional possible points that might yet have not competed? Glad you asked. Here ia a very unofficial look at what might be ladies that could score at nationalsL. Silzn Zyyilci in the mile. She has a 4:10 PR in the 1500 which is near 4:30 for the mile. Taylor Chosek and Annikas Williams Pentathlon. One or both could score at National. Shana Grebo, if healthy, could be points. Alyson hickey (22'3 LJ) and Ryann Porter (44'2" TJ0 could add some needed points And then there is a 62 high jumpers (Cheyla Scott0. I can see why several of you have nice things to share about the ladies team. BUT, who knows what surprises are lurking?

Olduck66, I think the surprise Duck you may be looking for is Ella Nelson. Not a huge surprise as she qualified for the 800m outdoors, but after her impressive 600/1000 double this weekend, and her significant improvement in XC, she could snag a spot for indoor nationals.

Some more observations from last weekend's performances...
The meet record that Jaida Ross took down last weekend was from none other than her "old friend" Jorinde Van Klinken. And while I appreciated Van Klinken competing for the Ducks for a year, I think many here would agree that we hope that in-state product Jaida wipes out many more of her records, especially her school SP records...
Speaking of Jaida's old friends, Mine de Klerk seems to be adjusting well to the program at Nebraska as she is currently 4th on the indoor SP list, just 4" off her PR which she set the year before coming to Oregon.
Jack Normand's winning jump was just 1/4" off his PR, a very good opener for him. Hopefully we will see his first ever 7' leap come as a Duck.
Also in the "once a Duck, always a Duck" category, it appears after an less than fruitful transition year, Jasmine Montgomery is finally achieving the results that some might have expected sooner, as she is 2nd on the collegiate list in the 200m and top-10 in the 60m.
A couple of unattached Ducks that impressed this weekend: first, Aiden Carter finished 4th in the 60mH. This looks be a strong event for him in the Hep/Dec. Good to see both he and Koby Kessler apparently redshirting, at least indoors.
Allura Markow had a pretty solid double in the 800/mile at 2:14.86/4:51.64. Not spectacular times, be she looked pretty gutsy in the 800m.
