I was really shocked by the men's class not getting the #1 rating. I am assuming that is going to OSU. Just reading through many of these schools recruiting classes (which doesn't include transfers) it just goes to show how difficult it is to be highly competitive in the NCAA landscape nowadays. So many schools have high level rosters with quality and quantity.
I would imagine that Shalane is on her way to possibly landing the top freshman recruiting class during this years cycle especially if many of her duck commits improve on their track PRs before leaving high school (which would be pretty scary).

... So many schools have high level rosters with quality and quantity. Yes, did you see that Tennessee has 19 incoming freshman women?! And that's just distance events. Incredible. I think if we would have kept Dan Watcke, the men would have come out #1 as they rated the same recruiting class #1 and the article acknowledges that likelihood.

Yeah that Tennessee recruiting last year was crazy. I am not sure I have ever heard of 19 recruits coming in on one event area and one gender. In one year Tennessee went from non existent in the women's distance ranks to placing 6th at the NCAA meet. They will definitely be a school to watch moving forward which is why it's a good thing Shalane has focused on adding various high level quality recruits which is very different from the previous coach.

Let's not forget that this ranking is for "distance running". Looking over the incredible group of sprinters, jumpers, throwers, etc. coming in. I would not be surprised if Oregon ranks out as #1 for overall class on the women's side...and maybe not so far off on the men's side
