It is great to see coach Vin back at the helm of organizing championship meets and pre champ competitions. So far, I have not seen any notice that the meet will be streamed. I am curious as to whom Oregon will run on their A teams. Will any of the lady transfers be entered? Also wonder which 7 athletes will make up the men's team. Will any of the newbies run in the Duck uniform for the 1st time. Entries are due in Monday, the 9th. If there is a Sherlock Holmes on this site, please share any information you have.

I have no specific insight on who will be entered, but based on the Dellinger race, this could be the Oregon men: Quincy Norman, Elliott Cook, Simeon Birnbaum, Abdinasir Hussein, Ben Balazs. Ku Stevens and/or Josh Schumacher may be included should coach Schumacher be looking for longer distance guys. Other options would be to give Rheinhardt Harrison an opportunity to amend for his Dellinger showing, though he is primarily a middle distance guy. Josh Edwards is an immense talent but it looks like he will remain a redshirt.
Shalane Flanagan has quite the challenge in deciding the women's team for this race. My suspicion is that Maddy Elmore, Izzy Thornton-Bott, Emily Girard, Anika Thompson and Klaudia Kazimierska have earned starts. Beyond that, I will venture the remaining two to include Katie Clute and Victoria Patterson. Melissa Berry, and Ella Nelson are carryovers who could slip in there, depending on recent training results. Depending on their eligibility and how well they have adjusted to the new coach, Samantha McDonnell, Mia Barnett and Dalia Frias all have the potential to be included. This should be interesting.

I have no knowledge of entries. I do see there can be 9 athletes entered so I am assuming the 9 women in the A race would probably be: ITB, Elmore, Girard, Thomson, Patterson, KK, Klute, Miller, and Nelson. It's definitely harder to guess the men's entries but of course Norman, Hussein, Cook, and Schumacher. After that it could any combination of Slenning, Stein, Stephens, Smith, Harrison, and Balasz. Would be surprised if anyone who ran unattached at Dellinger run attached at this meet but I could definitely be wrong. Maybe some athletes compete in the B race.

Good to know that 9 can be entered for each team. That gives teams one more race to sort things out. Oregon has not entered B race teams for either the Men or the Women.

Oregon's men not yet being listed is not surprising as many of the teams are yet not listed. On the women's side, the only surprise would seem to be the inclusion of Allura Markow, as she was a DNF and appeared to have been injured during the Dellinger meet.

Okay I'll wait and I hope you're right, but as of this morning, the only men's teams not listed yet in the Blue (championship) race that were listed in the designation article linked above are Cal Poly and Oregon. Three additional men's teams who were previously listed in the Orange race who are now in the Blue race are Arizona, Washington State, and Weber St. I'll check back later.

I was thinking the same thing that pretty much all the men's teams are listed. If the men don't race anywhere this weekend its not too surprising as the writing has been on the wall that there wasn't going to be much emphasis placed on XC this year for the men's squad.

I agree with what has been said here already. The goal with attending Pre-Nats is to get used to the course ahead of the championships so it doesn’t feel unfamiliar in November. If the men do not run then to me that definitely indicates that they don’t intend to be at Nationals this year. A huge bummer considering this coach was hired to improve the XC performances. Again, the NCAA is no longer a development league you can grab transfers and win now. Apparently Coach Schumacher is still a little old school in his recruiting philosophy.

Personally I am glad the Ducks apparently are deemphasizing cross country this year because once everyone has used up their redshirts, they looked to be pretty amazing. But I am concerned that Schumacher commits to a lot of meets then pulls out of them. Granted, most of the time it is not the entire team like this weekend; usually it is "just" several athletes...more even than Coach Johnson use to pull. The implications could be that schools stung by being "jilted" by the Ducks pulling out of one of their meets en masse might decline future meets at Hayward.

Hopefully, our athletes are on board with this. I would hate to see a few leave for lack of competition. I like the idea, but.......

Solid performance for the Women today considering the circumstances. Everyone seemingly improved from the Dellinger meet outside of Thompson. I was a bit concerned after the 1st K but they did a great job moving up midway and throughout the race. Really impressed by Elmore's run and even the fact she showed a little kick at the end to retake 2nd place. Still think there is more to come from ITB. KK ran the best XC of her Oregon career which isn't surprising as her talent lends to that type of run or better. Both she and Nelson stepped up in big ways for the team today. Conference will be interesting based on how some of the pac12 teams ran yesterday at Nuttycomb I feel like the Women's team have a shot at a top 3 finish. Side note...Oregon State ran amazingly as a team yesterday. They have the potential for a podium finish at Conference.

Following up on Nate's comment about OSU. Being a former Beaver myself, I am happy to see the growth of their track program. Louie Quintana is doing a great job, along with coach Dumble, on a limited budget. Earlier this week, we learned that Jackson Mestler will now be coached by Quintana, who has quite the solid record with Steeple Chase competitors.
