Some notable omissions from the javelin squad pictures posted today by Oregon. Riley Traeger Eric Lyon
An addition I don’t think mentioned: Zach Young (Linfield, Junior?) - PB 202’ 1” Interesting not is he played football too and competed in the decathlon but will seemingly focus on the javelin at Oregon.
In the sprints I have seen no sign of Camden Wheeler at the practices so far. Also no official transfer news regarding them.
These are unofficial observations but something I thought worth noting.

The Stride Report stating that Daniel Watke has entered the transfer portal along with Colorado’s Carrie Baloga. I don’t know the status of our 800m squad but it’s certainly unknown. I haven’t heard anything from big-time recruit James Harding or Thomas Palfrey in a long time. You can’t win many championships without a balanced squad so this definitely worries me.

Really disappointed to hear this as I was very impressed with Watke and was looking forward to see him run for Oregon. But I'm just a fan and know there is a lot going on for these young athletes and just wish the best for him. Oregon will always have great athletes to root for.

A couple of BIG transfers for the Ducks:
Silan Ayyildiz, a Turk from South Carolina, won the SEC Outdoor 1500m title, and was second indoors in the mile. Cheyla Scott, a 6' high jumper from Tennessee, placed 3rd at the SEC Outdoor Championships.
I believe the rest of the transfers have been discussed here prior. Unfortunately Alexa Rossum is not listed on the TFRRS website; hopefully it is just because she is out of indoor eligibility and will be on the roster for outdoors.
On to the men...

Norwegian Daniel Thrana joins the team in the javelin with a personal best of 258' 6". He is listed as a Frosh, but is 21 years old. Several of the transfers previously discussed are not yet listed.

Could be wrong but I feel like it's been quite a while since the ducks had a 6'0 female high jumper. She could definitely be a NCAA scorer if she becomes consistent at that height. I would imagine she would have some improvement left in her as did that as a freshman.
Shalane got yet another great transfer in Ayyildiz. Although she didn't fare well at both NCAA meets this past track season, she definitely has the talent to be a nationals scorer. I do think the best approach for the female "milers" this year will be to split them so that two could run the open mile and two could do the DMR/3k double (I would go with Elmore and ITB doing the latter). With the two top notch SEC transfers coming into fold this winter the Women should be in the mix to be podium contenders or more indoors so maximizing points will be critical. Ayyildiz isn't a bad XC runner as exemplified from this past SEC championship meet where she placed 7th and five the of runners ahead of her went on to finish 1, 2, 4, 6, and 11th at the national meet which shows she is probably on par with where ITB and Elmore was which also means she should definitely be a heavy contributor for the Ducks next fall if she stays healthy. Shalane has really done an outstanding job in recruiting this last year at the high school level and with the transfers she has landed. It's just a matter of time before the needle moves dramatically with the results in her event areas.

Nate (once again) scooped this news a couple days ago. She seems to be an excellent recruit. I think with the coaching she will get at Oregon, she may have some performance breakthroughs this year. I, for one, can't wait to see what all the mid-distance runners can do this year.

A quick Google search found Alexa Rossum's LinkedIn page says she is a student athlete at University of Oregon, and she appears to have 1-2 years of Indoor eligibility and one-year of Outdoor eligibility. I sure wish the athletic department would update the roster. Other sports are reporting significant incoming transfers and signees, but nothing from the track team.

Either Cheyla Scott has not made her final decision, or somebody at TFRRS inadvertently spilled the beans because she is no longer on the Ducks roster there and her Instagram account says the final three schools in her decision are Illinois, South Carolina, and Oregon.

I think it was inadvertent. She was still on her trip to Illinois when the TFRRS thing was reported so I’ve been under the impression she hasn’t made her decision. Still haven’t seen anything regarding Daniel Thrana so waiting on that too.
