Daniel Watcke ran a 47.50 to PR in the 400 this past weekend. He is having a great Senior season that is going under the radar on a national level. He ran well in XC; broke 1:50 in the 800 indoors, and has now improved his 400 speed. I wouldn't be surprise if he goes 1:47/1:48 in the 800 outdoors. And if he runs competitive mile he could probably get close to running something close 4:00. He has the tools to be a very good 800/miler in the by the time he becomes an upperclassman in college. Not sure I have seen a Duck recruit with that type of range.

He committed in to the Ducks in the Fall. He just doesn't get talked about as much as Connor Burns and Simeon Birnbaum but he has some great tools for success in the future. He also has a teammate that is a HS Junior that beat him in a few meets in XC and also ran 49 seconds in the 400 in same meet this weekend. Could be a recruit for next year to keep an eye on.

He redshirted both indoors and outdoors, so he will have four seasons of each remaining.

Very nice pickup for the men's team and very good sign that the coaches are trying to bring high caliber transfers into the program which is very much needed for the men's XC team (and would be the icing on the cake for the women's team if they can get a low stick transfer or two). Izaiah would be coming in (as of now) as the highest placing XC running on the team from the 2022 NCAA meet after finishing 63rd which is very respectable for a true freshman. If he is injured now I can see a case for him potentially redshirting XC in the fall and giving him 3 more XC seasons in the future once he is fully healthy and adjusted to the program.

Will Heslam ran 1:49.79 for the win at Oregon Relays tonight, 4 sec. improvement from his junior year. There are things to grouse about, but the incoming male distance recruits are not among them.

Fuad Omer of Westview HS (OR) has committed to the Ducks. Pretty decent local recruit. He ran well this past weekend at Oregon Relays. Seemingly has a lot of room to improve. Has good height and build for a decent 400m runner.
Personal Bests: 200: 21.98 400: 48.28

The first image that came up when I Googled him last night was an apparent recruiting pic for the Huskies as he stood in front of a Huskies sign with Coach and Pac-12 legend Jeshua Anderson. The Ducks won that battle!

Very interesting development but positive for the Ducks. Not often do we get a high profile Multi transfer in from another program but we do now. Annika Williams (formerly) of Kentucky will be a Duck starting in the Fall. She was ranked 3rd going into the Indoor NCAA meet this past year in the Pent but musta gotten hurt as she didn't compete after winning SEC championship where she set her indoor best of 4356. She looks to have one indoor season left and two outdoor seasons since she hasn't competed outdoors this year. Maybe she can redshirt/compete unattached during 2024 indoors and have two years training with the Ducks to get healthy and adjust. Great pickup by Coach Henson and I imagine this will help the other Lady's improve as well who have already progressed a lot as a group. Excited to see how this turns out.

Great news, Nate. That's huge.
Looking at her career, it's been pretty odd, with injuries/illness at inopportune times. As a consequence her indoor results far outstrip her outdoor marks. But she's actually quite good in the jav. She's only done two heps in her entire career, both in 2021. Very good thrower and jumper, but only so-so in the running events. We'll have quite the crew next year. Hopefully she'll fit in with the training group and they'll gel. Should be a formidable group. A real coup for Seth, I think.

New men’s distance signee who Schumacher has flipped from Wisconsin and hails from Melbourne, Australia is Archie Noakes. Archie is a talented runner at a few distances but is a gifted steepler to pair will Del Barrio and Balazs. The poster below says this is arguably the best recruiting class of all time. https://www.instagram.com/p/Cr2BmfCt1qf
