Connor Burns was named TF&N's high school indoor track athlete of the year honorable mention (basically runner-up) after leading the 1500m, mile, and 3,000m lists.

Alana Reid just ran 10.92 legal at the Jamaica High School Champs which is a Jamaican Junior Record and 5th all time Junior in the World. Hopefully she makes it to Eugene. But I wouldn't be surprised if she went pro. She PB'd earlier today in the Semi's running 11.16. I imagine she can do something pretty great in the 200 later this week.

Just saw the video; she certainly looked like a woman among girls there. Had never seen her run before but agree that she may put up something as good or better in the 200. That's a long, powerful stride. I certainly wouldn't be shocked if she went pro either. Here's the race:

Selfishly I hope she doesn't go pro. That would be yet another blow to the sprint recruiting which is in need of someone of her caliber. I so hope Mia Brahe-Paterson decides to stay close to home when she commits next year. If these two could be on the same Duck squad together that would be amazing. Jadyn Mays has two indoor seasons left and only one more outdoor season left after this year.

'21 counts as a Covid freebie season.

Just going by some posts on 247, Gatlin Bair of Burley, ID, has an offer from the Ducks as a 4-star wide receiver class of 2024. Yesterday he won the Boys' division 100M at the Texas Relays with a time of 10.25. Nycoles Harbor was third in 10.31. I don't know Bair's interest in the Ducks. Nebraska and Michigan are listed has "warm" in his profile while the Ducks are "cool" but those things have a way of changing through the course of the year. Here's a link to the Texas Relays' results page for his race: relays.texassports.com/Here's a link to his profile on 247: 247sports.com/Recruitment/Gatlin-Bair-149912/RecruitInterests/A while back, some were speculating whether or not he was related to Branden(sp) Bair a former Duck DL. Don't know how that discussion came out.

He ran a +2.1 10.18 in a preliminary round but as he says in this interview, he's not looking to be a two-sport guy and will focus on football tx.milesplit.com/videos/631739/gatlin-bair-runs-1018-21-100m

One thing I was pretty disappointed about was the lack of high profile transfers that have been brought into the program since the summer coaching change. However, maybe there will be a little more portal activity now that the coaches have settled in to their new digs. One high profile transfer, and former potential teammate of Kate peters when she was committed to OSU is frosh phenom Natalie Cook. She is in the transfer portal and someone who would immediately impact our XC squad next year assuming she recovers from her current injury. She’s from the DFW area in TX so hopefully she’s not looking to go home to UT. I’m also hoping she doesn’t go to NC State who has an embarrassment of riches.

Birnbaum, Burns, and Echohawk are all competing in the same 3200m race at Arcadia tomorrow. Marlow is running in the elite mile.
