I feared that the program was going to get out of balance regarding distance and sprinting. I am willing to accept that Phil Knight has a better plan than would I. However, I love the sprints. I realize that Eugene is an improbable location in which to build a sprint power, but we all witnessed that Oregon did. You do get 3 sports from distance runners, and only two from sprinters. So this means that perhaps Oregon will win more national team titles, but under Johnson Oregon won multiple team titles. I loved that era’s talent. Well, this was my fear from the beginning w/the new regime; While I'm thrilled at the progress of the distance program, we are light in the hurdles/sprints/jumps. And, at this juncture there is an entire full time coaching slot still open. I'd also note that it's early in the day and it may take a few years for this all to shake out. I'm willing to suspend judgement at least for a while. I've noted in the past that Arkansas and the Ducks have been virtually the only remaining programs to run across the board programs w/a few gaps showing for each in recent years (Ark the throws; the Ducks the vertical jumps, etc.). We'll see if NIL can help with that over the next few years.

Ugh, Sophia Beckmon of Oregon City signed with Illinois and Coach Kyprianou. He is a renowned jumps coach, and the Ducks lost theirs...

Hope it doesn't become a theme, but we'll see. I think that the hep is a possibility for Beckmon with her size. Will be interesting to follow.

Initially I assumed we didn’t want to rush the hire of another coach. Now that many months have passed, is there even a plan to fill the final coaching vacancy? Any insiders have a scoop?

Interesting. It seems the Ducks are throwing a lot of resources at Multi Athletes. AJ Carter comes out of Brentwood, Tennessee. Perhaps a connection with Jett Kinder?

Thanks Bill. If Santaduck is going to sleep on the job, it is great to have you pick up the slack.
I am pleased to see a sprinter. Sounds like a good pick up… not a superstar but she will improve the depth of both relay teams. Let’s see how she develops.
She attends Serra in Gardena… same as Jasmine Reed … and same as … drum roll…. Rodrick Pleasant!!!

This is a great pick-up; she improved dramatically last year. I would hope that w/NIL we could get two kids like this per year. Even with normal attrition, we would remain a national sprint power if we could do that.

Coach Henson who is the multis coach and was in charge of recruiting under Johnson. I imagine he had been in contact with these athletes for some time.

We got the 2022 CIF 100m/200m men's winner, Rodrick Pleasant, and the CIF 200m women's winner, Brazil Neal, to become Ducks. Now can we get the 100m women's winner, who just edged Brazil by .001 in the 2022 CIF final, Reign Redmond, from Carson CA and has just put Oregon in her top 5 schools. She decides this month. No idea how she is leaning, but the first several comments on her instagram post are encouragements from current and future Ducks. http://instagram.com/p/CoIvLmHPbKD

It is great to see Oregon recruiting so well in one of its traditional talent and fan base areas! Southern CA has long been essential to the UO programs.

Chile, have you checked Jordan Washington's social media? She is also from Serra, and has the fastest 200m time in CA last year. I can't find where she has committed online.
