.... And here is her first interview as a pro. It is a lengthy chat with flotrack. She doesn't revel much about the timing of her decision and has a lot of indecisiveness about her future. For now she is living in Seattle back with her Dad as coach. It seems that there was something not quite right at Oregon, but she generally has nice things to say about her experience as a Duck. Thanks for posting this, Bill. Personally, I was surprised and impressed with the interview. Hannah has always come off as a bit aloof, but this interview provided a good explanation of her personality, and showed her in a much more personable light. I found it interesting that she always had "going pro" on her mind, and that even when she arrived at Oregon, she was thinking "two years". My interpretation of what was awry for her at Oregon was her injury situation. She says how she so wanted to run a full outdoor season, but that didn't happen because of what she refers to as a re-occuring injury (most likely the hamstring). Reading between the lines, she is not yet fully healthy and probably has some qualms about competing as a pro before she is fully recovered. Perhaps that explains why she was being so vague about her future plans. One thing that is pretty clear is how much she appreciated that Oregon does not push the athletes too far, just to get points. I also came away with the definite impression that she came back this year, feeling a bit out of place with all the new kids on the block, while her best friends, Deija and Raevyn, had moved on to pro careers. My conclusion is that she is a very nice, thoughtful, person, and someone who will always be a Duck. It's worth the half hour to listen to this.
